1929: Built to Serve

Old Central Firehouse is built by the El Paso architecture firm Trost & Trost, the same firm behind San Angelo's City Hall. It becomes one of the city's first firehouses, built for function, durability, and readiness, right in the heart of downtown.

1976: A New Purpose

After nearly five decades of active service, the fire department relocates. Old Central Firehouse takes on a new role in the community, housing San Angelo's City Recreation Department and Senior Citizens Center through 1998, followed by Healthy Families of San Angelo.

2019: Restored & Reopened

Jody and Michele Babiash restore the building with care and reopen it as Old Central Firehouse Bed & Brew. The San Angelo community fills its walls with meaning, donating helmets, jackets, boots, hydrants, and photographs from firefighters across the region, pieces that still line the halls today.

2026: A Full Remodel, A New Vision

Jennifer and the team remodel the downstairs, converting the pizzeria into a beautiful event space. Every original detail is preserved and rebuilt around a fresh identity bringing the building fully into its next era.

Meet the Team

Christy

Venue & Suites Manager

Hi, I’m Christy! I’m a Texas Alum who handles marketing and helps coordinate events at the Old Central Firehouse. You’ll usually find me with a matcha in hand, thinking a few steps ahead and making sure all the little details fall into place. I’m definitely a Type A planner, but in the best way—I love making the process feel easy and stress-free so you can actually enjoy your event.

Jennifer Stang

Managing Owner

Hi, I'm Jennifer! Owning a firehouse has always been a dream of mine — and bringing this historic space to life has been one of the greatest joys of my life. I believe that life's moments, big and small, deserve to be celebrated, and there's nothing I love more than creating a place where people can come together to do just that.

Whether it's a wedding, a special gathering, or a milestone worth marking, it's an honor to be part of the memories made here.
